Wings Head to Toronto to Battle Rock in Rubber Match for East Division Lead
March 7, 2012 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Philadelphia Wings News Release
The Philadelphia Wings (4-4) hit the road against the Toronto Rock (4-4) in their biggest game of the season thus far, as they battle for sole possession of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) East Division lead at Air Canada Centre Friday, March 9 at 7 p.m..
The Wings and Rock have split their season series in 2012, each winning on the other's home turf, so not only will this game catapult one team to the top of the standings, it will also clinch a pivotal playoff tie-breaker should the teams finish with the same record at the end of the season.
Philadelphia and Toronto last met on February 18 at the Air Canada Centre when the Wings took down the Rock 14-8 behind Brendan Mundorf's five goals, Dan Dawson's seven assists and Brandon Miller's stellar play between the pipes. .
"This is a very important game, it's for first place and it's a tie breaker, come play-off time. Everyone understands what the task at hand is," said Wings Head Coach Johnny Mouradian.
Coach Mouradian said in recent games the Wings are where they need to be statistically, with the exception of their low shooting percentage.
"Mirroring what you are doing during practice in the game is important," Mouradian said. "We have to allow more of that for the shoot-around on Friday and we are back here next Thursday for a shooting practice, which that is a very important practice. We have to take advantage of opportunities to have practice if we want to get up to a 19% shooting percentage."
The Wings will return home to play the Edmonton Rush at Wells Fargo Center on Saturday, March 17 at 7 p.m. Tickets to all Wings home games are available by phone at 215-389-WING or online at WingsLAX.com.
