Philadelphia Wings News Release

Philadelphia Wings rookie and first-round draft pick Sean Greenhalgh was named the NLL's Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week and goaltender Matt Roik was named Defensive Player of Week for their performances in the Wings 13-11 season opening win against the Colorado Mammoth on Friday, December 30.

"Considering it was his first indoor lacrosse game in awhile, Sean had a great night," said Wings Head Coach Lindsay Sanderson. "Matt was spectacular at times and definitely gave us 60 solid minutes."

Greenhalgh scored seven points (4G, 3A) in the Wings victory over Colorado. The rookie forward also scooped up a loose ball and scored three of his goals in the decisive fourth quarter of the contest. The Cornell University graduate was the Wings first pick (3rd overall) in the 2005 NLL Entry Draft.

Roik recorded 44 saves, allowed ten goals, and collected two loose balls against the Mammoth. He anchored a Wings defense that allowed just one goal in the fourth quarter. Roik was acquired by the Wings in a trade on August 18, 2005. The fifth-year goaltender has been the NLL's Defensive Player Award recipient two previous times.
