Six more new faces will head to the Hub City this fall after being selected by the Aberdeen Wings in the 2022 NAHL Draft.
The Wings' first pick is Max Donohoe, who went 13th overall in the first round. The '03 forward from Oakville, Ontario, Canada spent the previous season with the North York Rangers, where he scored 23 goals and added 26 assists in 47 games played.
"I'm very excited," Donohoe said. "This is a fun experience and I can't wait to get started."
The Wings' second pick in the draft is '04 defenseman Aaron Koskinen, who will head to Aberdeen from Turku, Finland. Koskinen spent time last season playing for TUTO Hockey's U18 and U20 teams, where he notched five goals and added an assist.
"I'm very excited and proud to be joining the Wings," he said. "I'm ready to bring some good energy and toughness to the ice."
The team's third pick is Jonathan Barker, who was selected 71st overall in Round 3. The '02 defenseman from North Kingstown, RI most recently played for the Bonnyville Pontiacs in the AJHL, where he scored a goal and added six assists in 48 games.
"I'm pumped for the opportunity," Barker said after the draft. "Aberdeen is a great spot and they have a great reputation. Coach Jennings has done a great job in the past with placing players and I'm really excited to work with him and Coach Stepan."
The Wings' fourth round pick, 100 overall, is '04 forward Billy Sancibrian from Barre, VT. Sancibrian spent his previous season with the Little Caesars 18U AAA team, where he scored 36 goals and added 23 assists in 61 games.
The Wings' fifth pick, chosen 129th overall, is Alexander Gullichsen, also from Turku, Finland. The '02 forward had four goals and six assists last season playing for Lukko U20.
"I'm really excited to be part of this great organization and I just want to be there to help the team the best way I can," he said. "Go Wings!"
The Wings' sixth and final pick, chosen 158th overall, is '04 forward Zach Vockler, who will head north from Sioux Falls, SD. Vockler spent last season with the Badlands Sabres in the NA3HL, where he racked up 22 goals and 29 assists in 44 games played.
"Overall, we are very pleased with the draft day results," Wings head coach Steve Jennings said. "We acquired several experienced junior hockey players and a good mix of birth years. I'm looking forward to our main camp next month in Fargo."
