DALLAS WINGS HEAD COACH, VICKIE JOHNSON (THURSDAY, AUGUST 4, 2022)

On defeating Chicago and Las Vegas, consecutively

"I feel amazing. I'm happy for our team and especially the ladies. They believed and they did a great job of listening to the schemes the coaching staff [prepared]. They did a great job of preparing them and they executed. We know the game is about runs, Las Vegas is a great team. We knew they could come down and knock some shots. The execution by Ty [Harris] and 'Big T' [Teaira McCowan] was huge at the end. Just her performance aside, her performance was amazing, so I was happy to see her make shots and do what she needed to do to help our team be successful."

On her play call for Ty Harris & Teaira McCowan's pick and roll.

"Yeah, I [drew it up], but they executed it. They tried to ice it. Ty was still able to use the pick and roll and get to the slot and make the right decision. She went downhill, we knew they were going to rotate, and she did a great job of getting it up and T was able to finish."

On Tyasha Harris' mental fortitude

"The team is bigger than the individual."

On the team's success with offensive rebounds and sharing the basketball

"It was huge. I put 14 [offensive rebounds] on the board. I put 28 assists, we had 22. The way we moved the basketball and trusted each other down the end was huge for us. Defensively, getting that stop it was still a contested shot by [A'ja] Wilson. Wilson missed the layup, but we did contest and if you had it any other way, you want her to go right to try and finish with her right hand. It was a great win for us, and the fans were amazing."

On the importance of the fanbase with the upcoming homestretch

"The fans were amazing. The energy in this building was amazing on both sides. When we scored, they appreciated that and defensively they're also our 6th man. We couldn't have won this game without them and their energy."

On facing New York back-to-back next week

"I'm not one to skip to New York. We're only focused on Indiana right now. We understand the importance of the New York games, but right now we're not overlooking Indiana at all. They have a lot of great young players that can come in that can do some damage to us. We're locked and focused only on Indiana, and then when Sunday comes, we will prepare for New York. But for right now, we're only focused on Indiana."

On Teaira McCowan's benefits on the court

"Her size and her patience - I was very happy to see her. She missed a couple easy layups, and they were really trying to attack her on the offensive side of the ball. But I'm proud she stepped up tonight and made her free throws. She missed three or four tonight, but she made the big ones which is huge, and she made the layup that counted. She brings a different look to us and a different presence. Our team is learning how to play with her and it's a good thing. We're learning at the right time too."
