Wings Fall to Bismarck, 5-4

The Aberdeen Wings were at home Friday night against their rival Bismarck Bobcats in another installment of the Titan Cup presented by Titan Machinery.

The Wings would find themselves in a hole in the 1st period as Bismarck pushed the puck into the scoring zone twice with goals coming at the 8:07 and 17:13 mark. The Wings would go into the locker room and regroup.

In the first minute of the second period, the Wings would get on the board from #11 TJ Roo (F-Coon Rapids, MN) with the goal, assist from #20 Dillon Eichstadt (D-Bemidji, MN). At the 6:10 mark, Roo would find the back of the net yet again to tie it up 2-2, the assists coming from #15 Jordan Heller (F-Bemidji, MN) and #21 Bjorn Sigurdarson (F-Reykjavik, Iceland). Following the goal, at the 6:56 mark Bismarck would send four players to the penalty box, one of which would be ejected for game misconduct. Nearly 19 minutes would be served on the penalties by Bismarck. Aberdeen however would capitalize on the 5-on-3 power play as #21 Bjorn Sigurdarson would score with assists from #11 TJ Roo and #15 Jordan Heller. The Wings would take a 3-2 lead, but Bismarck would answer with just one minute left in the period. 3-3 after 2 periods.

6:08 into the 3rd period, Bismarck would take the lead on a goal from Sekesi. With 11:09 left in the game, #21 Bjorn Sigurdarson would score his 2nd goal of the night to tie it at 4-4. Assists on the goal coming from #19 Colin O'Neill (F-Odenton, MD) and #7 Matt Brettingen (D-St. Cloud, MN). Bismarck would regain the lead with 3:24 left in the game, now 5-4. The goal coming after a barrage of battling and bodies falling and chipping in front of the net. That would prove to be the winning goal, final score 5-4.
