Aberdeen Wings News Release
The second week of February marks the official start of the final third of the 2021-22 season for the Aberdeen Wings.
The Wings kicked off the month with a weekend split with the Minot Minotauros. This weekend, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 11-12, will mark games 41 and 42 in the league's 60-game regular season.
And in a very tight Central Division, the standings are sure be to be shaken up a bit.
Austin currently leads the division with 49 points, following by St. Cloud with 47. Three teams - the Wings, North Iowa and Minot - are tied for third with 43 league points, while Bismarck sits at the bottom of the division with 33.
Most notable is the division in number of games played so far. Minot has the most games played so far this season with 42, followed by Austin with 41 and Aberdeen, North Iowa and Bismarck with 40. The team with the most games to make up is St. Cloud, who are currently five games behind Minot. That being said, the Norsemen currently have the division's best win percentage, but that could change with a heavier load of games to come later this season.
The North Iowa Bulls will travel to the Odde Ice Center this weekend to play for four more coveted league points. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. both Friday and Saturday night, with the puck scheduled to drop promptly at 7:15 p.m. On Friday, we welcome Nutrien Ag Solutions as the game's corporate sponsor inside the AutoMaxx Party Deck, and we also welcome all area nurses to the game as part of our Nurse's Night; just show an ID at the door for a $5 general admission ticket.
On Saturday, Feb. 12, we welcome two special guests. First, Boy Scout Troop 359 will be our guests inside the AutoMaxx Party Deck as they also present the color guard for the game's national anthem. We also welcome Siouxland Thunder Sled Hockey - fans can try sled hockey for free on Saturday afternoon from 4:30-6:30 p.m. inside the Holum Expo Building, then watch a demonstration during the game's first intermission and stay for a live scrimmage immediately following Saturday's game. We're also offering a BOGO at the door: buy one general admission at regular price and receive a second ticket for just $5.
The Wings will head back to Minot on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 18-19 and wrap the month at home again, this time welcoming the Minotauros back to the Odde Ice Center on Feb. 25-26.
