Rochester, NY - The Rochester Red Wings beat the Richmond Braves 3-2 Wednesday at Frontier Field. The Wings jumped out to a 3-1 lead and held on for their second straight one run win over Richmond.
The Red Wings pushed a run across in the bottom of the first on a ground out by Glenn Williams to take a 1-0 lead. Richmond tied the game in the second on an RBI single by Yunel Escobar. Rochester moved in front to stay in the fourth on a two-run double by Doug Deeds. Doug Clark knocked in Escobar with a sacrifice fly in the sixth to cut the Wings lead to one. For the second straight night the Braves left the tying run on at third in the ninth.
Brian Duensing earned the win. Ryan Basner took the loss. Bobby Korecky notched a save for the second straight night. Escobar and Bill McCarthy each had two hits for Richmond. Garrett Jones had two hits for the Wings.
The Braves and Red Wings wrap up their four game series Thursday at 7:05 at Frontier Field. Blaine Boyer will pitch for the Braves against Dave Gassner. The Braves return home June 5.
