February 13, 2006 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Philadelphia Wings News Release

The National Lacrosse League announced today that Wings defenseman Thomas Hajek was named as a member of the starting lineup for the 2006 East Division All-Star Team. The 2006 NLL All-Star Game will be played at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario on Saturday, February 25th at 4 p.m. and will air locally on Comcast SportsNet at 11:00 p.m.

"It's a great honor to be chosen to play among such an elite group of players," said Hajek, a second-year All-Star. "It should be a great weekend and a great showcase of the best professional lacrosse players in North America."

Hajek serves as the Wings team captain in his third-year and is second on the team in penalty minutes with 30. The University of Vermont graduate is second on the Wings in all-time penalty minutes with 135. He was acquired by the Wings in the first round (9th overall) in the 2003 NLL Entry Draft.

Rounding out the East Division All-Star Starters are forwards John Grant (Rochester Knighthawks), John Tavares (Buffalo Bandits), and Colin Doyle (Toronto Rock); defenseman Steve Toll (Rochester Knighthawks), and Steve O'Toole (Rochester Knighthawks). The West Division All-Star Starting lineup is comprised of forwards Gavin Prout (Colorado Mammoth), Tracey Kelusky (Calgary Roughnecks), and Craig Conn (Arizona Sting); defensemen Jay Jalbert (Colorado Mammoth) and Brodie Merrill (Portland LumberJax); and goaltender Anthony Cosmo (San Jose Stealth).

The East and West Division starting lineups were determined by the combined votes of the league's general managers, league media, and fans, who voted online at the league's official website, www.nll.com. The votes of each of the three groups weighed equally in determining the starting lineups. The twelve reserves for the East and West teams will be announced tomorrow, Tuesday, February 14th. Each All-Star team will have a total of eighteen players, and all eleven NLL teams will have at least one player in the All-Star Game.

Prior to the All-Star festivities, the Wings play one home game at the Wachovia Center on Saturday, February 18th vs. the Portland LumberJax. The Wings play their final game prior to the All-Star Game against the Toronto Rock at Air Canada Centre on Friday, February 24th. The game will be part of the All-Star Weekend festivities and celebrate the inaugural class of the NLL Hall of Fame including Philadelphia Wings owners Russ Cline and Chris Fritz.
