Philadelphia Wings News Release

The Philadelphia Wings have acquired college standout Joe Walters from the Buffalo Bandits according to General Manager Lindsay Sanderson. Walters was received as a conditional consideration as part of a July 24 three-way trade involving the Bandits and the Calgary Roughnecks. The trade ultimately brought defenseman Taylor Wray and forward Jason Crosbie to Philadelphia along with the conditional consideration, which was satisfied today with the acquisition of Walters.

Walters, a forward, played four seasons at the University of Maryland where he finished as the school's all-time leader in points (227) and goals (153). During his senior year with the Terrapins, Walters was the recipient of the Jack Turnbull Memorial Award awarded to the nation's top attackman and a finalist for the Tewaaraton Trophy awarded to the college player of the year. The Rochester, NY native was also a two-time ACC Player of the Year (2006, 2004), three-time All ACC (2006, 2005, 2004), and the 2003 ACC Rookie of the Year.

Walters also played in the 2006 World Lacrosse Championships last July for Team USA and held the distinction of being the only college player to be named to that team. He was drafted by Buffalo in the second round (18th overall) of the 2006 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft, but did not play for the Bandits during the 2007 season.

Deposits on season tickets for the 2008 Philadelphia Wings season are now being taken. For just $50 you can reserve a great seat for eight great games of Wings lacrosse action at the Wachovia Center. For more information, call 215-389-WING or logon to www.wingslax.com for more information.
