PORTLAND, August, 1, 2007 - The Portland LumberJax have announced Dallas Eliuk, the most decorated goaltender in professional lacrosse history, as its franchise player for the 2008 season. National Lacrosse League Teams can designate up to two players from the current roster as franchise players. Eliuk is the only franchise player the Jax have ever selected. By naming Eliuk as a franchise player, the Jax are guaranteed to see the 18-year veteran return in goal for the 2008 campaign.

"Dallas is still a top NLL goalie," said Head Coach/General Manager Derek Keenan. "Goaltending, without question, is the most difficult commodity to find in pro lacrosse. It takes years to develop a young goalie and we'll continue to do that with Matt King under the tutorship of Dallas."

Eliuk enters the 2008 season with a career Goals-Against-Average of 12.23 and a career saves percentage of 76.28%. In his storied career, Eliuk has won four championships (1994, 1995, 1998, 2001), nine All-Pro awards, two championship MVP awards and has now been named a franchise player the last five seasons. Eliuk joined the Jax on Dec. 12, 2005 in a trade with the Philadelphia Wings.
