ST. PAUL, MN- The Wichita Wingnuts throttled the St. Paul Saints 12-2 on Friday Night, pulling to within 1.5 games of first place.
Michael Thompson led the way for Wichita, going 3-4 with his fifth home run of the season and four RBI's, as Wichita scored in five of the first six innings. Stephen Pearson and Chris Colton both went 2-4 with a home run and combined to knock in six runs.
Leonard Landeros moved his record to 3-1, allowing just one run and four hits in seven strong innings. Doug Hurn and Byron Embry each pitched an inning to close things out.
The two teams will meet again on Saturday at 7:05 p.m and Sunday at 1:05 p.m., before Wichita returns home on Tuesday to begin a six-game homestand. For tickets or more information, call the Wingnuts office at (316) 264-4625.
