
Wingnuts take second straight from Explorers

Wichita, KS-----The Wichita Wingnuts took the second straight game from the Explorers winning 11-3 here Saturday. Wichita jumped on X's starter Nick Schumacher for seven runs in the first inning on seven hits, including four doubles as the Wingnuts sent 11 batters to the plate in that inning and never looked back in recording their third straight win.After the first inning, Schumacher settled down and gave up only two runs in the next three innings, but the damage was already done. Everyone in the Wichita starting lineup, except Greg Porter, had at least one hits as Ryan Khoury led the Wingnuts 16-hit attack with three hits. Geno Glenn came in relief for the Explorers and pitched the final four innings and limited Wichita to two unearned runs on two hits while striking out three. Youske Inoguchi accounted for two of the three Explorer runs with a two-run home run in the sixth inning, his fourth of the season. Wally Backman Jr. extended his hitting streak to 16 games while Ray Serrano had three hits, extending his hitting streak to 14 games. The Explorers will close out the three-game series at Wichita Sunday afternoon with game time set for 2:05.
