
Wind Surge Lose Another Nail-Biter in Tulsa

Wichita, KS- The Tulsa Drillers defeated the Wind Surge 2-1 on Saturday night behind a stellar start on the mound from Gavin Stone and a go-ahead two-run homer in the seventh from Leonel Valera.
Gavin Stone got the start on the mound for the Drillers and was dominant as he pitched five scoreless innings and allowed just three hits, two walks, and struck out eleven batters before being relieved in the sixth inning.
Cole Sturgeon broke the tie in the sixth inning as he hit a solo home run to give Wichita a 1-0 lead. Sturgeon finished the night one for four with an RBI. Andrew Bechtold went two for three with a walk in the ballgame as well.
The Drillers found late offense in the seventh inning as Leonel Valera hit a two-run homer to give Tulsa a 2-1 lead.
Daniel Gossett made his Wind Surge debut on the mound where he had an efficient outing as he pitched five scoreless innings and allowed just three hits and tallied five strikeouts before being relieved by Bryan Sammons in the sixth inning. Jose Hernandez earned the win in relief for Tulsa and Osiris German took the loss for Wichita.
Notes: The Surge are now 2 ý games out of first place in the division and are 3-9 on the road trip.... Matt Wallner had three walks in the ballgame (nine total in the series) ... Wichita falls to 25-6 when scoring the game's first run. The Wind Surge are 12-10 in one run games and have dropped their last five.... The Wind Surge offense had 16 strikeouts matching a season high. Wichita has no hits in its last 22 at bats with runners in scoring position.
Coming Up: The Wind Surge will play the series finale against the Tulsa Drillers tomorrow, June 19th for a 1:05 first pitch. Casey Legumina will take the mound for the Wind Surge.
