Win Streak Ends at Seven as Munroe Stymies Bobcats

Bismarck Bobcats News Release

BISMARCK, ND - For the second time in 2015-16, the Bismarck Bobcats' offense stalled out against netminder Chase Munroe as the Minnesota Wilderness blanked the Cats 2-0 Saturday at the VFW Sports Center, halting their season-high win streak at seven games.

Following a scoreless first period, Minnesota drew first blood just 1:13 into the second when blueliner Janis Jaks floated a wrister through traffic that Bobcat goalie Nick DeSimone never saw as it beat him over his blocker and under the cross bar.

It would stay a 1-0 game until a power play goal from Wilderness center Ryan Bloom, who stung home a Ryan Patava rebound, doubled the Minnesota lead to 2-0.

Munroe saved his best stuff for last, turning away repeated opportunities when the Cats lifted DeSimone for an extra attacker in the final three minutes-culminating in a point-blank pad save on Harrison Aide with 37 seconds left in regulation.

Aide's offering would be the last shot the Bobcats would muster, as time expired to end the game at 2-0 and close out the weekend with a two-game split.

The two teams halved the 2015-16 season series at 2-2-0 each.

DeSimone fell to 1-2-1 as a Bobcat despite a strong 23-save night. Munroe compiled 22 saves to author his third shutout of the year; the first year keeper is now responsible for the only two times all year the Cats have been held scoreless.

Now the Bobcats (25-14-1, 51 pts) turn their attention to a Friday duel with the archrival Minot Minotauros (23-16-4, 50 pts)-who sit just one point back of the Cats for first place in the Central Division-to close out their seven-game home stand.

Tickets are now on sale for Friday's rivalry throwdown: fans can buy and print tickets 24 hours a day at BismarckBobcats.com, by clicking "Shop Now" on the team Facebook page or by calling 222-3300.
