Lancaster JetHawks News Release
(RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA) - It took the best pitcher in the American League to finally slow down the Lancaster JetHawks. 2005 Cy Young Award Winner Bartolo Colon, making a rehabilitation start for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, pitched four scoreless innings as the Quakes beat the JetHawks 7-1. The loss ends the JetHawks seven-game winning streak.
Two JetHawks can proudly say that they recorded hits off the Angels ace. Chris Rahl and Carlos Gonzalez hit back-to-back singles in the fourth inning, although the JetHawks did not score in the innings.
JetHawks starter Kellen Raab kept the team close, allowing just two runs in five innings, but the Quakes exploded for five runs in the sixth off reliever Jared Doyle. Meanwhile, originally scheduled Quakes starter Fernando Rodriguez picked up where Colon left off.
Mark Reynolds got the JetHawks on the board in the ninth inning, hitting a solo home run over the right field wall. Reynolds, the California League home run leader with 13, extended his hitting streak to 12 games with the blast.
The JetHawks return home Friday, June 2 for a six game homestand. The homestand also marks the start of the JetHawks Endless Summer Kickoff Weekend, complete with fireworks, giveaways, and the JetHawks first ever salute to Antelope Valley commuters. Individual game tickets, season tickets, and mini-plan packages are available at the JetHawks box office, by phone at 661-726-5400, as well as at www.jethawks.com.
