York Revolution News Release

(York, Pa.) - In their longest game of the season, Josh Wilson walked it off with a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the 13th inning as the York Revolution beat the Somerset Patriots 6-5 on Memorial Day at PeoplesBank Park. The win ends the Revs' (23-15) season-best homestand at 6-1 and clinches a series win over the Patriots (21-17). York's first place lead in the Freedom Division extends to two games over the Sugar Land Skeeters.

Keith Castillo led off the bottom of the 13th with a teardrop double to the right field corner and advanced to third on a wild pitch. After Andres Perez walked and James Simmons was hit by a pitch, Wilson walked up and cracked an 0-1 pitch down the left field line. Castillo scored and Wilson's teammates mobbed him at first base, sending those who remained of the holiday crowd of 2,792 into a frenzy.

Frank Gailey (1-0) earned a hard-fought win with three perfect innings in relief, striking out two on just 34 pitches. Donovan Hand (0-1) took the loss after not retiring anyone in the 13th.

Somerset benefited from a wild Matt Neil in the top of the second. After getting the first two outs with ease, Neil walked the next two men. Aharon Eggleston reached on catcher's interference, then Eric Farris drew a bases-loaded walk to plate the first Patriot run.

The Revs got a rally going in their half of the second, as Castillo and Perez led off with singles. Charley Thurber got Castillo home with a bloop double to left field, and Perez scored on a wild pitch. Thurber eventually came home on Michael Rockett's sac fly, giving the Revs a 3-1 lead.

Neil's struggles continued into the third as Brad Snyder belted a leadoff home run to the roof of the home clubhouse in right field. After a couple quick outs, Trayvon Robinson banged a double off the Arch Nemesis, chasing Neil from the game. Michael Click came on and surrendered the game-tying single to Robert Kral, and Eggleston made it 4-3 Somerset with a run-scoring single of his own.

The Patriots added an insurance run in the top of the fifth when Carlos Guzman knocked a solo homer to left center.

York made its move in the bottom of the sixth. Joel Guzman and Telvin Nash led off with singles to knock Shaun Garceau out of the game. On the first pitch he saw, Castillo shot a single into center to score Guzman and make it 5-4.

Perez followed with a bloop single to right to load the bases, then after a strikeout and a pitching change, Josh Wilson worked a full count and lifted a sac fly to right to plate Nash with the tying run.

The teams traded goose eggs for the next three innings to send it to extras. Ricardo Gomez managed his way through the 10th inning unscathed, then the rain came and delayed the game 38 minutes.

The Revs had prime chances to win in the 11th and 12th. Perez singled with one out in the 11th and stole second on a strikeout. After a walk to Wilson, Michael Rockett slapped a weak grounder to second to end the threat.

Isaias Tejeda laced a one-out double to right to get things going in the 12th, advancing to third on a Guzman groundout, but Telvin Nash struck out and the game soldiered on until Wilson's heroics in the next inning.

Castillo led the Revolution attack, going 4-for-6 with two runs, a double, and an RBI. Perez added three hits of his own.

Eggleston, Guzman, and Robison each notched two hits for Somerset.

Notes: This was the longest game by innings (13) and time (4:11) the Revs have played this season. Perez's second-inning single was his 1,000th his as a professional baseball player, coming one day after notching his 500th with York. Nash (10), Guzman (7), and Wilson (7) each extended their hitting streaks, with Nash and Wilson's marks their season-best. The Revs will now swing up to Bridgeport for a three-game set with the Bluefish before returning home on Friday. York's James Simmons (4-1, 2.92) matches up with Bridgeport's Jimmy Patterson (0-1, 4.29) in Tuesday's opener at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, woyk1350.com, and on the WOYK mobile app beginning at 6:50 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
