FIRST THINGS FIRST: Tonight, the Wilson Tobs look to stay undefeated as they welcome in the Edenton Steamers for their first matchup of the year. The Tobs went 5-7 in 12 matchups with the Steamers in 2018.
HEY, NATE: Nate Fiala will take the ball for the Tobs tonight. The right-hander out of Scranton, PA has made just one appearance this season in relief without allowing a run on May 26 against the Twins. Fiala from East Stroudsburg has a career 3.26 ERA in two seasons. He has struck out 88 batters in 85.2 career innings pitched. During this past sophomore year, Fiala held opponents to a .190 batting average. Tonight will be his second outing with the Tobs.
EISENBARGER, YOU'RE GOIN' IN: The Steamers will hand the ball over to Jack Eisebarger tonight. The left-hander has made one relief appearance this season against the Morehead City Marlins, tossing a scoreless inning. Eisenbarger is a junior out of Rockhurst University who made nine starts in 2018 with a 4-5 record and 4.61 ERA. He graduated from Vianney High School and hails from Kirkwood, MO.
BRING IT AROUND: The Tobs offense batted around three times last night. Wilson's offense has batted around in five innings this year already. They have come to the plate 31 times this season, including exhibition games.
CRAZY NUMBERS: Through the first four games of the season, the Tobs have scored 62 times, tallying 51 hits and batting .354 as a team. They are a perfect 13 for 13 in stolen bases and have walked at a higher rate than they have struck out (33-28). The offense has also homered in each of their first four contests, all from three different batters with a grand slam. The Wilson pitching staff has racked up double-digit strikeouts in three of four games this year, setting down a total of 42 hitters, walking just 15.
FEELING SO DEVINE: Drew DeVine has been red hot to begin the season. After a quiet 0-3 contest on opening night against the Twins, DeVine has exploded, going 11 for his last 15 (.733), including a triple and a double, driving in eleven runs in the process. The native of Marshall, MI tallied a four hit performance on Tuesday followed by two-hits, Thursday night and five hits on Friday. DeVine was a .359 hitter in 48 games during this past junior year at Western Michigan. He posted two double-digit game hitting streaks, including a 13-game hitting streak this past season.
