WILSON, N.C. (May 31, 2011) - The Wilson Tobs (0-1) managed just two hits and never were able to find a rhythm at the plate, as they fell 6-0 to the Edenton Steamers (1-0) in the season opener Tuesday night at Fleming Stadium.

RHP Joshua Branstetter (1-0) picked up the win for the Steamers, going 6 and 2/3 innings, and giving up just one hit and one walk. RHP Steve Nikorak (0-1) got tagged with the loss for Wilson. He went 4 and 2/3 innings, giving up five runs on four hits, walking four and striking out five. In total the Tobs sent four pitchers to the hill, and they gave up a combined nine hits. All six runs were earned.

It was the middle of the order that did most of the damage for the Steamers. Cleanup hitter Ryan Porter put Edenton on the board in the top of the fourth with a two-run double. Next inning, the number three hitter in the lineup, Joe Wendel, went yard to right-centerfield to put the Steamers ahead 5-0.

The Tobs will look for their first win of the 2011 season when they head to Petersburg, VA to take on the Petersburg Generals on Wednesday night at the Petersburg Sports Complex at 7:05 p.m. Wilson will send LHP Brice Rivenbark (0-0, 0.00) to the mound against RHP J. T. Wauford (0-0, 0.00) for Petersburg. The next Tobs home game will be Thursday, June 2, at 7:05pm against the Asheboro Copperheads. For tickets call the Tobs box office at 252-291-TOBS.
