Williamson Gets the Best of the Bears

Laredo, TX - Laredo Lemurs (28-20) starter Fabian Williamson (5-1) was dominating as he pitched a two hit complete game shutout in a 7-0 win over the Newark Bears (14-30) on Sunday night at Uni-Trade Stadium.

Overall, Williamson had a tremendous night, retiring 16 straight before giving up his first base hit in the sixth. He retired the side in order five times and struck out nine batters, all swinging.

Williamson's outing was the first time this year that the Lemurs have thrown a shutout against any team. It was also the first complete game for any Lemurs pitcher in the 2013 season.

In two starts for Williamson this week, he picked up two wins, threw 16 innings, and struck out 20 batters.

The Lemurs offense tonight came from Sawyer Carroll and John Alonso. Carroll posted a three for three night, with two doubles, scoring three runs. Alonso went two for four, with a double and a two run homerun. He finished the night scoring two run with four runs batted in.

Brian Peterson and Mike Sheridan also chipped in with two hits apiece and an RBI for each of them.

Leondy Perez took the loss for the Bears, going five, giving up seven runs, on nine hits, with a walk, and a strikeout.

The Lemurs are on their longest home stand of the season with the Newark Bears, El Paso Diablos, and St. Paul Saints all coming to town through July 17th.
