Williams, Petrusek Are Can-Am's Weekly Best

DURHAM, NC - The official statistician of the Can-Am League, PA-Sportsticker, has selected Atlantic City Surf OF Clyde Williams and Sussex Skyhawks RHP Matt Petrusek as the Teamline Direct Batter and Pitcher of the Week.

Williams played in five games this past week for the Surf. He had a batting average of .476 (10-for-21) with two home runs, eight RBI and four runs scored. Williams also had a .810 slugging percentage to go along with an on-base percentage of .542. In Sunday's game against the Brockton Rox, the Sanford, FL resident went 4-for-5 with two home runs, two runs scored and five runs driven in. On the year, Williams is batting .291 with two home runs, 11 RBI and nine runs scored.

The 28-year-old was a third round selection of the Montreal Expos in the 1998 MLB draft. He played seven seasons in the Expos organization from 1998-2004. Williams has also played with independent clubs including Fargo-Moorhead, Lancaster and New Jersey.

Petrusek made four appearances this past week for the Skyhawks. The righthanded closer went 1-0 allowing no earned runs on five hits and collected three saves. On the season, the Tinley Park, IL resident is 1-0 with a 0.93 ERA and five saves. Petrusek is second in the league in saves behind Andy Weimer of the Nashua Pride.

The 25-year-old has now spent his entire five-year career in the independent leagues. He has played for Joliet of the Northern League, Sioux Falls of the American Association and now Sussex.
