Pride Walk-Off with Duplissie Two-Run Homer in Ninth

(Nashua, N.H., June 10, 2008) Pride first baseman Bryan Duplissie hit a two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning off of Jackals closer Rusty Tucker, to give the Pride their ninth win of the season (9-9).
Nashua, who trailed the Jackals 8-0 in the top of the fifth inning, rallied to score once in the bottom of the fifth, five runs in the sixth, and three runs in the ninth, erasing a nine run deficit in their most spirited effort of 2008.
Pitcher German Melendez earned a victory in his first appearance for the Pride, pitching a scoreless 7th, 8th, and 9th innings. Tucker, for the Jackals, entered the game in the ninth inning looking for his fourth save of the season, but ended up with the loss.
Pride right fielder Dennis Abreu finished the night 3-for-3, with a home run, two doubles, and two RBI. First baseman Bryan Duplissie ended the night 2-for-5 with a double, a home run, and two RBI, and second baseman Ismael Castro went 1-for-4 with a three run home run.
Pride starting pitcher Nicolas Suero earned a no-decision, lasting three and one-third innings, giving up seven runs, on ten hits. Reliever Jason Paul went two and two-thirds, allowing one run, on three hits, two walks and a strike out.
New Jersey starting pitcher Isaac Pavlik also earned a no-decision, going five-plus innings, allowing six runs, on eight hits, one walk and two strike outs.
The Pride and Jackals enjoy a day off on Wednesday, before playing the series finale on Thursday, at a special 10:35pm start time on U.S. Army Education Day at Historic Holman Stadium. Probable starting pitchers are to be determined.
