SAINT JOHN - For the second straight night, the Saint John Sea Dogs dropped a one-goal decision to the Moncton Wildcats in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League exhibition action.

The Sea Dogs fell 4-3 despite a last-minute 6-on-4 flurry as 1,857 fans at Harbour Station got their first look at Sea Dogs hopefuls Saturday.

Free agent invitee Danny Wicks had two goals for the Sea Dogs while 2010 QMJHL entry draft pick Brock Morrison scored for the second straight night and added an assist. Free agent defenceman Patrick Levesque chipped in two assists. In goal, invitee Charlie Millen got the start and stopped 14 of 17 shots before giving way to Sebastien Auger. Auger, a 2010 draft choice, stopped eight of nine shots the rest of the way.

Ludlow Harris Jr. had a pair of goals and an assist for Moncton. Maxim Pitre also scored, and Brandon Shea was credited with the winning goal on a strange play that deflected off a skate. Brandon Thibeau stopped 14 of 16 shots in the start, and Jordan Kennedy stopped 17 of 18 in relief.

Morrison, wearing No. 26, gave the Saint John fans something to cheer about just 26 seconds in. The 18-year-old forward from Howie Centre, N.S., opened the scoring with an assist from 17-year-old defenceman David Mosher of Halifax.

After Harris equalized at 14:49, Wicks, an 18-year-old from Mount Pearl, N.L., redirected Ben MacDonald's point shot on a delayed penalty to make it 2-1 at 19:52.

Harris brought the Wildcats back even at 3:15 of the second, and Pitre put them ahead at 5:04 of the middle frame.

But Wicks found the back of the net again, finishing a cross-crease pass from Morrison for a power-play goal at 12:13. Levesque, a 17-year-old from Edmundston, picked up the other assist on both Wicks goals.

Shea's pinball goal gave the Wildcats the lead with just 3:44 to play, and the Sea Dogs were unable to find another equalizer. The Sea Dogs had a late power play and pulled the goalie for a 6-on-4. Returnee Ryan Tesink, wearing the captain's "C," led the charge on the final shift with Morrison, and 2011 draft picks Oliver Cooper and Steven Anderson up front, with Levesque and MacDonald on the points. But the Dogs couldn't get a shot through Kennedy and the Moncton defence.

Saint John's next home exhibition game will be held at the qplex on Aug. 27 against the Prince Edward Island Rocket, with the third and final tune-up against back at Harbour Station against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan on Aug. 31.
