San Diego Wildcats News Release
San Diego, CA. On Sunday night, the ABA San Diego Wildcats met the Carson Buzz as part of a round-robin tournament in Mexicali, Mexico. The intent of the tournament was go give both teams an opportunity to look at a large number of players that had tried out and are scheduled to attend the teams' veterans camp later this month. In this match-up, the San Diego Wildcats prevailed with an easy 101-65 win bringing their pre-season record to 2-0. The Wildcats were led by former Eastlake High scoring leader Wade Currey with 31 points and 14 rebounds plus 5 blocks.
According to team owner, Tim Ovie, "Wade is a winner - a solid player all around." The next game for the Wildcats will be on October 16th when Carson comes to visit San Diego.
"It won't be quite so easy next time," stated Buzz GM/Coach Burrel Lee. "But we learned a lot and know that the Wildcats have a great team and we have our work cut out for us."
