Texas Tycoons return to ABA play
October 9, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Texas Tycoons News Release
Dallas, TX. The Texas Tycoons today announced that the organization will resume play in the ABA this season. The team also revealed plans to play in Dallas instead of Fort Worth.
The Tycoons reached the second round of the ABA playoffs in its first season and were undefeated in 2005 prior to suspending play last season.
In addition, the team has revealed strategic media alliances with XM Satellite Radio as well as Dallas Community Television (Southbound TV) to further expose the Tycoons' various sports and entertainment endeavors on and off the court.
Down XM Radio, of XM satellite Channel Raw 66, will cover all of the Tycoons home games as well as conduct behind-the-scenes interviews with coaches, players and in a unique twist, the newly formed: Tycoons/ABA Fan of the Week which goes to the fan in green and gold that exudes the most "spirit" during the game.
Southbound TV will provide a weekly sports and entertainment update on the Tycoons that will venture well beyond mere X's and O's. "There's so much more to the Tycoons movement than just basketball. Charles and Mike are pillars of the community. They actually care about improving the lives of all their players, staff and even the up and coming recording artists that perform at their home games. We are extremely proud to display our partnership with the Tycoons in over 600,000 Dallas area households," added Terry Johnson, Executive Producer of Southbound Television.
"Our plans have always been from day one to expose as many people as possible to Tycoon mania. We believe these and other key media alliances will ignite a desire to become part of our movement. The Tycoons are back and we are here to stay," added team owner Charles Key.
The Tycoons will release a two-part ABA DVD documentary and soundtrack spring 2007. Mark your calendars for the red, white and blue carpet, star-studded movie premier of the two-part series, July 2007 at the 5th Annual Texas Summer Music Conference. Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
