San Diego Surf Captures First Pre-Season Win

San Diego, CA. The ABA San Diego Surf opened its pre-season with a victory over the Riverside Rainmakers, 112-94 at the Joan Kroc Arena in San Diego. Coach Mason and his focused team of 6'3" -

6'11" professionals showed they have the drive and stamina to keep the red, white and blue ball bouncing all season.

Surf guard, Michael "Money" McNair (Northern Arizona U) poured in 31 points, five of which were crowd-energizing 3-pointers. Chris "Mr. Mid-Range (Morehouse College GA), point guard, added 26 points and kept smiling through photos with fans during timeout breaks. Brian "B-Hills" Hills (U of Alaska), forward, contributed 15 points in the win.

The Rainmakers Kimarle Williams had 21 points, Leim Flaherty had 18 and Cortez Ward had 16. The Rainmakers were a constant threat with their tenacious defense in the back court with the 3-D rule playing a bonus role in their offense.

The Surf played in front of a sizable crowd of enthusiastic fans. In addition, the exciting new "Surf Squad" dancers, directed by Jenny Glenn, kept the energy level booming during half-time and media timeouts. Additional entertainment included performances by local talent and free-throw challenge shots by the fans.
