South Georgia Wildcats News Release

ALBANY, GA- The South Georgia Wildcats moved up to the second place slot this week in the af2's Coaches Poll behind the undefeated Wilkes Barre/Scranton Pioneers, making this week's match-up at Cooper Tire Field the biggest in franchise history. With a win, the Wildcats could very well find themselves atop the af2 for the first time ever.

"This is the type of game this franchise and community have wanted to be a part of since day one in Albany," Wildcats General Manager Darren McPhail said today. "They don't get any bigger than this. Wildcat fans are in for a real treat this weekend when these two teams hit the field Saturday night, so we want everyone to be sure and get their tickets early, because they don't want to miss this one."

The Wildcats also announced today that Palmyra Medical Centers, along with Albany Orthopedic Centers and Albany Arthritis and Orthopedic Centers will be the official game sponsors this week. The National Anthem will be performed by the Palmyra Singing Seniors, and the invocation will be given by Dr. Duncan Marsh of Albany Orthopedic Center. The coin toss participants will be Dr. Bob Pilcher and Dr. Jennifer Swaringen of AAOC, and Drs. Scott McGee, Duncan Marsh, and Dan Rhoads of AOC. The delivery of the game ball will be made by Bud Wethington, CEO of Palmyra Medical Centers.

In addition, the first 3,000 fans through the doors Saturday will receive a "Wildcats Retro Visor" thanks to Verizon Wireless and Palmyra Medical Centers. Tickets are still available by contacting the Civic Center Box Office at 229-435-0205.
