WENATCHEE, Wash. - The Wenatchee Wild defeated the FresnoMonsters Friday at the Town Toyota Center, 4-2. It was Wenatchee's fourthstraight win and eighth win in the last nine games.
Riley Borer put the visitors up 41seconds into the contest when he scored on a wrist shot from the left wing afterthe Monsters made a quick transition out of their own zone. Mikhail Bushinskiassisted.
The Wild went on to score thenext two markers to take a 2-1 lead. TraceRedmond (McKinney, Texas) scored the first of those goals 5:08 into thefirst stanza. During the Wild's first power play of the night, Redmond scoredfrom the slot on a one-timer off of BlakeRoubos' (Niagara Falls, Ontario) pass from the near circle.
Chris Kerr (Penticton, British Columbia) gave Wenatchee a 2-1 leadwith 5:29 remaining before the first intermission on Shawn Pauly's (Bellingham, Wash.) backhand pass from behind the endline. Fresno came back to force a 2-2 tie when Jeffrey Pauluk scored on a wristshot from the near point during a power play with 2:27 remaining in the firstperiod. Borer and Brendan Bradley collected the assists.
Trevor Husch (Plainfield, Ill.) scored what would count as theeventual game-winner with 9:14 remaining in the second period when he knockedin a pass from Blake Saylor (Centennial,Colo.). Roubos scored an insurance goal for the Wild 2:54 into the third periodwhen he cleaned up a rebound. Ben Carey(Centennial, Colo.) and Redmond assisted.
Greg Lewis (Mars, Pa.) stopped 22 of the 24 shots he faced to earnhis eighth win of the season. Fresno's Macauley Haight made 35 saves on 39shots. Wenatchee scored one power-play goal on three chances while Fresnoscored one man-advantage marker on two opportunities.
Redmond and Roubos led the Wild.Each scored one goal and added one assist. For the Monsters, Borer scored onegoal with one assist.
Wenatchee (21-10-4) will concludeits home series against Fresno (16-13-8) Saturday. Faceoff is scheduled for7:05 p.m.
