Traverse City North Stars News Release
JANESVILLE, Wisc. - Zach Nagelvoort was perfect on Friday at Janesville, stopping all 42 shots he faced and leading the Traverse City North Stars to a 1-0 victory over the host Jets in the first of a two-game series at Janesville Ice Arena.
The defensive stalemate was broken up late in the second period, as Lance Fredrickson (Spring Lake, MI/Muskegon USHL/Miami, OH) scored his first goal in a Stars sweater with a mere :31 left before the final intermission. Chris Waterstreet (Northville, MI/TC North Stars NAHL) and Alexander Taulien (Crystal Lake, IL/TC North Stars NAHL). Nagelvoort (Holland, MI/Kalamazoo NAHL) and the TC defense did the rest, including weathering 16 shots in the third frame alone.
Despite the club's third shutout of the season, the Stars did not close the gap on second-place Kalamazoo and North-leading Port Huron, both of which also posted victories on Friday. Traverse City (18-11-5) will take on the Jets (27-8-3) again on Saturday evening at 8:05 p.m. ET.
