Wild Things Lose Ninth Inning Lead as Four-Game Win Streak Is Snapped

Washington Wild Things News Release

WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Wild Things led 2-1 heading to the ninth inning as they were three outs away from their fifth-consecutive win, but a four-run ninth by Lake Erie sealed Washington's fate, as its four-game streak came to an end by a final of 5-2 in the homestand opener.

Lake Erie started the scoring after drawing walk, hit batter, walk to start the contest. Zach Racusin lifted a sacrifice fly to give the Crushers a 1-0 lead that would evaporate in the third.

The Wild Things scored on a Brett Marr single in the third that plated Cameron Baranek, before scoring again the sixth on a Cody Erickson base hit.

Michael Austin, despite a quality start, received a no decision, as Zach Strecker blew his first save of the season, as the Crushers plated four, two earned, against him in the ninth inning, to win the game.

John Havird (3-2, 3.20 ERA) opposes Pat Ledet (1-2, 1.97 ERA) in tomorrow's middle game at 11:05 a.m.
