
Wild Things Fall To Gateway Grizzlies

WASHINTON, PA - The Washington Wild Things (21-20) and the Gateway Grizzlies (19-21) went head-to-head in a June 30, 2016 matchup at CONSOL Energy Park. Gateway won the night 2-1 in a nine-inning competition.
RHP Matt Fraudin (2-4) led the Wild Things; he produced one strikeout, allowed two runs and lowered his ERA to 3.51. Washington worked hard defensively - shutting the Grizzlies down in a 1-2-3 fashion in two innings. Brian O'Keefe took the mound in the seventh; he allowed only two hits.
Gateway scored first when Seth Heck drove in Josh Bunselmeyer on a single. Blake Brown would then drive in Brandon Thomas, giving the Grizzlies a 2-0 lead.
Austin, Popkins and Rodriguez produced offensively for the Wild Things. Bryan Haar hit into a fielder's choice in the bottom of the ninth, allowing Austin to cross the plate and score a solo run for the Wild Things.
