For the third straight year, the Washington Wild Things have captivated everyone in the tri-state area and beyond. The Wild Things completed the 2004 season with a record breaking 62 victories and another Eastern Division Crown (2002 & 2004).
The team's new field manager, John Massarelli was honored by the league by being named the Roger Hanners Manager of the Year for 2004, and Ross Vecchio, Wild Things General Manager was awarded the Executive of the Year honors by the Frontier League.
During the season, nine Wild Things participated in the 2004 All-Star game at T.R. Hughes Stadium in River City. John Massarelli and his coaching staff of Mark Mason and Ryan Ellis along with players Jack Headley, Brian Stoecklein, Jon Cahill, B.J. Borsa, L. J. Biernbaum, and Matt Powell lead the East to a victory of 10-2 over the West.
At the season's conclusion, the Frontier League All-Star line up included outfielder, Jack Headley and second baseman, Brian Stoecklein.
The Wild Things fans continued to flock to Falconi Field in 2004 as the team overshot the century mark for sell outs, announcing 102 sell outs in 136 games played during their three years at the Washington County field. More than 160,000 people visited Falconi Field during eh 2004 season to see the Wild Things in action.
It was a wild and crazy 2004...one for the record books and the memory books. Now the Wild Things begin preparation for 2005 when they will host the All-Star Game in July.
