Washington, PA - The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, continued to struggle at the plate in their 11-0 loss to the Beach Bums at CONSOL Energy Park on Thursday night.
The Wild Things pitchers allowed 15 hits, including nine in the ninth inning that extended the deficit from three to eleven. Starting pitcher Mike Schellinger allowed two runs on five hits in his 7 innings of work, and recorded five strikeouts.
Washington outfielder Drew Hoisington went two for two at the plate, and added a walk, but the Wild Things could not bring in a scorer for the second straight game.
The Wild Things host the Beach Bums for game two of the three game set Friday when first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and airtime on WJPA 95.3 F.M. is 6:55 p.m. Friday is fireworks night at the ballpark. Tickets are available at the CONSOL Energy Park Box Office.
