Wenatchee Wild News Release

To end the series down in the Lone Star state, the Wenatchee Wild have rallied from game 1 and will walk away from this series with 3 points. Yet another overtime was forced between the Killer Bees and the Wild but it was the Wild who would go on to win 4-3 in this match up. Wenatchee definitely showed what an aggressive and powerful team they are by dominating the ice almost every period. Some of the Wild's most prominent players such as Jacob Liljeroos, Mitch Demario, and Colin Burston stepped up and aided the team immensely with strength and a constant stream of points going on to the board. Forbes Ploszaj was back in the net for the team, and it appears that he is back to full strength once more. With this win, the Wild now sit with 8 points in the NAHL's South Division and this should be a great kick starter of winning fever.

Wenatchee started the scoring game off at 4:56 in the first period when Mitch Demario, with help from Jacob Liljeroos, found the back of the Killer Bee's net. Continuing to dominate the first period, Colin Burston brought the score up to 2-0 Wild when he beat Rio Grande Valley goaltender Ben Johansson at the 11:38 mark. This goal was assisted by Andre Pison. Showing strength and skill, Andre Pison added one more point to the board before closing out the first period with a geno (goal) 18 minutes and 32 seconds into the game. Dan Bailey was credited with the assist.

There was only one goal during the second period, and that belonged to Rio Grande Valley's Dallas Gerads at 4:27. The assist went to Dean Balsamo.

Rio Grande Valley scored twice in the third to even things up at 3 yet again. #15 Tommy Horn lit the lamp 55 seconds into the last period to bring the score to 3-2 with an assist for Dean Balsamo. Anthony Croston then made this a tie game by giving a point to Rio Grande 14 minutes and 31 seconds into the last frame. Dan Kucerovy helped on this play.

In OT, it was Colin Burston who broke the tie and led the Wild to a 4-3 victory when he found the back of Johansson's cage 3 minutes and 8 seconds into the over time. Brendan Harris picked up the final point of the night. Colin also earned to be the First Star of the night for this game.

The Wild only took two infractions and they included Kneeing ((Major)) (Donovan Ott) and Hooking (Mike Coyne). Ploszaj was in between the pipes during this game and he recorded 27 saves out of 30 shots on goal.

Coach Littler stated, "We will take the three points and go back to work this week. We learned something about momentum. After the 5 minute major we lost our jam. It was nice to find a way to win."

The next time the Wild will play will be on October 24th and 25th at home in the Town Toyota Center. The Fairbanks Ice Dogs are coming to Wenatchee and the puck will drop at 7:05 pm PST both nights. If you can grab your tickets or tune into FASTHockey and watch these two teams battle it out! It is predicted to be a great series and don't miss a chance to support your Wild!
