Wenatchee Wild News Release
As of Saturday, the NAHL Showcase has come to a close and teams are now returning to their hometown rinks to prepare for home openers and opening series among other things. The final match up for your Wild was against the Minot Minotauros and what a battle of strengths that was. This was one of the strongest games the Wild have played so far and they are definitely showing the immense talent they have in store for this season. The game against Minot ended up in a shoot out but all throughout the game it was down to the wire. Wenatchee was on top of their game and showed some phenomenal plays all throughout the match. Players were focused and were working as one strong, solid unit in order to get things done. Defensively, they showed great promise.
At the end of the day, Minot walked away with a 4-3 shootout win but wow, what a game played by Wenatchee. They definitely put the pressure on the Minotarous. The team was right there every second of the game trying to out battle Minot and if they scored, the Wild scored. If Minot decided to play tough, Wenatchee would play 6x times tougher. After the outcome of the game and the closing of the NAHL Showcase, Coach Littler stated, "We struggled in the first period. I think the four games in four days was a factor. We need to get in better shape. I like the effort in the second period. We had our chances to put a lot of pressure on Minot we just were not able to score. Overall I think we left a point or two on the table at the showcase. We did find some things out about our team that I liked. Now we have some tough decisions on our roster to make when we get back."
The next game for your Wild will be on September 26th and 27th against the Odessa Jackalopes. This is also the home opener so if you can, grab your Wenatchee Wild tickets or tune into the game and support your Wild!
