Wenatchee Wild News Release

The Wenatchee Wild have been a very large and powerful presence in Blaine during the NAHL Showcase, and despite the 0-2 loss to Corpus Christi on yesterday, I believe that this is just the beginning as to what they are going to bring to the table when they head back to Wenatchee for their home opener weekend (26th and 27th of September) after tomorrow's game against the Minot Minotauros. No matter what team you look at in any league, you will always see a time frame where loose ends are tied and players finally adjust into their roles for the season ahead. In my opinion, that is what happened when the IceRays took on the Wild and in fact Coach Littler stated, "I felt we got better today. We had a shift at the end of the first that cost us. We have to learn we have to compete for 60 minutes. We are starting to see some separation in the kids that can play in the league and the ones that are not ready yet." Tomorrow's match up, I suspect, will be full steam ahead.

The first period was the only period of the game that saw scoring and both IceRay goals were right at the very end of the frame. Corpus Christi lit the lamp for the first time at 18:59 from the stick of defenseman #4 Anthony Cortese with assists for defenseman #9 Logan Gestro and forward #27 Connor Kelly. The last goal of the game was scored 15 seconds before the buzzer by forward #22 Tanner Lomsnes. Forward #14 Nic Laburn and defenseman #15 Trevor Heuser had the final assists of the game.

Five penalties were given to Wild players throughout this game and they included Checking From Behind (Logan Fauber), Holding (Dan Bailey) (Andre Pison), Boarding (Andre Pison), and Roughing (Joseph Kaszupski).

Forbes Ploszaj was in the cage for Wenatchee and was able to save 25 out of 27 shots on goal.

The final match up for the Wild will be tomorrow at 3:45 pm (Central Time) on ice sheet 4 at the Schwan Super Rink against the Minot Minotauros! It should be a very good game just for the fact that both teams fight until the very last second of the game. Make sure to tune in and support your Wenatchee Wild!
