Wild Drops Game Two vs. Corpus Christi

October 6, 2014 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Wenatchee Wild News Release

The two game series in Corpus Christi has come to a conclusion, and despite a 1-2 loss tonight, the Wild are showing great promise for what is to come. The Wild will head back home with a 0-2 record for the weekend but when referencing success, it's not always in the numbers. The team is finally getting accustomed to each other and it is more evident that they are working like a tight-knit group. They are still finding the connectivity on the ice and their rhythm. Once the team finds their groove, it will be very pronounced in the standings as well as the escalating points. They are a young roster, but the level of talent each player holds will amount to momentous achievements down the road this season. When the team takes on Rio Grande Valley this upcoming weekend, it is a safe bet to say that the style of play will be more aggressive and they will be playing the entire ice sheet to their advantage.

There was no scoring in the first period at the American Bank Center.

Corpus Christi opened the scoring for this game with the first point occurring near the 18 minute mark (17:56) of the second period. Ice Rays #22 Tanner Lomsnes scored this power play geno with the assistance of Anthony Cortese and Wes Michaud.

Wenatchee got the ball rolling 4 minutes and 5 seconds into the last period with a power play goal for Wild forward #28 Joseph Kaszupski. Assists went to Ryan Chiasson and forward #17 Dakota Raabe. The last point of the night was scored by Corpus Christi's #27 Connor Kelly at 13:48. #24 Jack Jenson and Nate Colwell picked up the assists.

There were 7 penalties during this game and they included Holding (Ryan Chiasson), Tripping (Donovan Ott), Roughing (Jake Ahlgren) (Fetkovic Lubomir), Slashing (Brendan Harris), Boarding (Mitch Demario), and Cross Checking (Brendan Harris). Michael Bullion was in the cage for Wenatchee and was able to save 20 out of 22 shots on goal while being in the crease for 58:47 minutes.

"We had more than enough chances to get the job done. We need to make the most of them when we get them. It comes down to compete level. When we learn to compete harder we will become a good team," Coach Littler said after the conclusion of this weekend's games.

The next time the Wild will play will be on October 10th and 11th against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees in the State Farm Arena located in Hidalgo, Texas. Each game will begin at 7:30 pm CST (5:30 pm PST). If you can, tune in on FASTHockey to support you Wild!
