Wenatchee Wild News Release
Wenatchee, WA. - The Wenatchee Wild opened their home season Friday night, defeating the Minot Minotauros 3-0, in front of 2,913 at the Town Toyota Center.
The Wild opened the scoring with a blast from above the right circle by Trey Bradley (Tampa, Florida). The power play goal, coming at 7:47 of the opening period, was assisted by Matthew Nuttle (Marilla, New York) and Troy Loggins (Huntington Beach, California), giving Wenatchee a 1-0 lead. The advantage grew to 2-0 not quite 4 minutes later, as David Powlowski Rochester, New York) banged home a one-timer at the right post for the Wild's second power play goal of the period. Nicklas Rivera (San Francisco, California) drew the lone assist at 11:36.
After a scoreless second period, both teams came out a bit more physical in the third, but neither could dent the twine until late in the period, when Wenatchee's Loggins busted in off the left wing and tucked home a backhander for the team's third power play goal of the night. Parker Tuomie (Biemerhaven, Germany) and Nuttle assisted at 17:20 and the Wild skated out the rest of the time from there for the 3-0 victory. "We had our chance on the power play to score some goals" said Head Coach Bliss Littler. "It was nice to get some. And on the penalty kill, we did a nice job. That starts with your goaltender." Littler continued, saying "For a young group, we learned some lessons tonight and tomorrow Minot will come back. Tomorrow will be a great challenge for us."
Wenatchee's Chase Perry (Andover, Minnesota) made 24 saves, in registering his first shutout of the season. The Minotauros' Brandon Wildung made 34 saves.
The Wild went 3-for-8 on the power play and 4-of-4 on the penalty kill.
With the win, Wenatchee improves to 4-3-0 on the young season, while Minot slips to 2-4-1.
