Wenatchee Wild News Release

Wenatchee, Wa The Wenatchee Wild announced its 25 player inaugural 2008/09 season team.

The Wild showed no inhibition towards diversity in the formation of their first ever hockey team. The players were selected from ten different states which include: Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Illinois, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Minnesota and two imports from Russia and Canada. "In determining the roster that will begin the season, we prioritized several attributes lead by character, skill, hockey-sense, and potential" remarked Coach Paul Baxter. "The tryout camps were very competitive, as was our final training camp. We are confident that we have chosen a team that Wenatchee will be proud to call its own.

The Wild is excited about their goaltending tandem. 20 yr old, Mathieu Dugas spent the past 2 seasons playing Junior A Hockey for the Restigouche Tigers, where he put up impressive numbers with a 3.2 GAA and a .912 S% while averaging 38 shots a game. 16 yr old, 6'3" Mac Carruth is one the best 1992 born goaltenders in the Country and has already accepted a full scholarship to the University of Minnesota, Duluth. Mac is considered a legitimate NHL prospect.

The Wild forwards play with speed and skill. Among the 15 forwards are two players with proven success at the Junior A level. 20 yr. olds Junior Cadiz and David Kurbatsky both averaged a point a game playing Canadian Junior A hockey last season.

The talent rich, eight man defensive core is an eclectic group of young athletes. Beau Burgau played Minnesota high school hockey last season while Dylan Cosford was an all-star in the NORPAC Tier 3 Junior League playing for the River City Jaguars. Matt Bruneteau played at the prep school level for the nationally renowned Shattuck St. Mary's of Minnesota. The remaining five defensemen competed at the midget AAA level last season. Adam McKenzie and Billy Miller played together for the San Jose Sharks while Zach Ledford and T.J. Wees teamed up for the Colorado Rampage. Kyle Brodie played for the cross-town Colorado Outlaws and scored 20 goals.
