Augusta GreenJackets News Release
North Augusta, SC: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of San Francisco Giants, lost 3-2 to the West Virginia Power on Wednesday night.
The game started off a pitchers' duel between John Gavin for Augusta and Cody Bolton for West Virginia. In the third inning, the Power got their only run off Gavin to take the lead. Gavin would go 5 2/3 innings, giving up only four hits, while striking out five.
The GreenJackets would respond with two of their own off of Bolton in the fifth inning. Jacob Gonzalez led off the inning with a solo home run to left field. This was his fifth home run of the season. Later in the inning, a RBI single from Aaron Bond would score Ryan Kirby from second base.
After the Power tied the game in eighth inning, they went for the lead in the ninth. With a runner on first and two outs, they capitalized on two GreenJackets errors to score Kyle Watson from first base. The GreenJackets would not score in the bottom of the ninth inning, as they lost 3-2.
The GreenJackets will be back in action tomorrow at 7:05 pm for game four against the Power.
