
WhiteWings Swept By Roadrunners Again

Harlingen - The Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings fell to 0-8 against the Edinburg Roadrunners following a 7-5 loss Saturday at Harlingen Field that completed a four-game series sweep.
The WhiteWings (14-16) and Roadrunners (22-7) have 15 meetings left this season.
The WhiteWings jumped on Mike Reeves (3-2) right away. Javis Diaz led off with a ground-rule double and moved to third on a fly-out. Yeurys Tejeda followed with an RBI-single. Salvador Paniagua walked, Arlon Quiroz hit an RBI-single to scored Tejeda. Paniagua and Quiroz advanced on a wild throw to the plate. Eric Gonzalez capped the inning with a two-run single to make it 4-0.
The Roadrunners responded against Andres Rosales (1-2) in the top of the second when Carlos Hereaud hit a two-run home run, his fifth of the season, to make it 4-2.
With two on and one out in the top of the third, Wilson Batista hit an RBI-single and Ambiorix Concepcion singled off of Rosales' leg to tie the game. One out later, Hereaud hit a two-run double and Robert Matlock hit an RBI-single to make it 7-4 Roadrunners.
The WhiteWings got one back in the bottom of the fifth when Tejeda beat out a grounder to short and Paniagua hit an RBI-double to make it 7-5.
Julio Castro pitched a scoreless ninth for his eighth save.
The WhiteWings welcome the Laredo Broncos to Harlingen Field for the first of four games Sunday at 7:05 p.m. on Family Day/Church Night. Gates open at 6:05. Right-hander Miguel Matos (2-0) is expected to start for the WhiteWings.
