San Angelo, TX - The Colts announced today that team co-captain Jason Landreth will be put on the inactive list for an indefinite amount of time in order to recover from several nagging leg injuries.
Landreth, who had been on the inactive list for five days earlier this month, leads the team in hitting with a .400 average and is United League Baseball's RBI leader with 34. He also has seven homers to his credit.
To fill his roster spot, the Colts signed outfielder Bradley Goldsmith today. Goldsmith played for the Colts last season, batting .302 with 10 RBI in 26 games played. He finished last season with Southern Illinois of the Frontier League, hitting .237 with eight RBI in 38 games.
He started this season with the Laredo Broncos where he hit .279 with four RBI in 13 games. Goldsmith is from Richmond, TX and played collegiately at St. Edwards University.
The Colts wrap up their homestand tonight against the Coastal Bend Thunder before embarking on an eight-game road trip to Edinburg and Laredo beginning tomorrow. The Colts return home on July 5 to open a four-game series with Edinburg. The game begins at 7:05 and can be heard on 1260 KKSA, with the Kemps Pregame Show getting things underway at 6:50. July 5 will also be Margarita Monday presented by MDX 106.1 FM. Margaritas will be served for only $2 throughout the evening.
