WhiteWings Swept by Dillas in Semifinals

AMARILLO - The Amarillo Dillas complete the two-game sweep of the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings in the United League Baseball Semifinals with a 6-1 win on Wednesday at Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa.

The Dillas jumped on David Cross (0-1) right away. Adam de la Garza drew a leadoff walk. One out later, Carlos Figueroa hit an RBI-double, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly by Stephen Douglas to make it 2-0.

Douglas led off the bottom of the fourth with a strikeout, but he reached on a wild pitch. Alberto Cruz followed with a two-run home run. Rob Recuenco and Brian Bueno singled and, one out later, de la Garza hit a two-run double to make it 6-0 and knock out Cross.

Andres Rosales took over and pitched 3.2 scoreless innings of relief, striking out two while allowing three hits. Luis Montano followed with a scoreless inning of relief. The WhiteWings bullpen did not allow a run during the series.

Ronald Lowe (1-0) allowed one hit and one walk to the WhiteWings through the first six innings, retiring 12 batters in a row before the top of the seventh, when Yeurys Tejeda led off with a double. Two outs later, Welington Dotel hit an RBI-single to break a 22 innings scoreless streak and make the score 6-1.

Lowe pitched a complete game, striking out 11 while allowing six hits and one walk.
