Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings News Release
HARLINGEN - The Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings have announced that infielder Ramon Downing has been re-signed to the active roster. To make room for Downing, the WhiteWings have released shortstop Miguel Peguero.
Downing, 22, a switch-hitting infielder, is the younger brother of Wings' infielder Juan Downing. He re-joined the team during their recent road trip in San Angelo. The WhiteWings are currently in the midst of a three-game series at Alexandria.
Both Downing brothers were originally signed by the Wings at the end of their season-opening nine-game homestand. Rio Grande Valley currently has 21 players on the active roster. The team expects to add a pitcher to the roster shortly, manager Eddie Dennis indicated Friday.
Rio Grande Valley (6-9) returns home to Harlingen Field Tuesday, June 6, against Amarillo as part of a six-game homestand.
