
Whitesides Hits Only Homer in All-Star Game

Fort Worth, TX- The Central League All Stars posted a 9-4 win over the Northeast League All-Stars Tuesday night at LaGrave Field in Fort Worth, TX before a crowd of 4,832. Four Lumberjacks were at the game for the Northeast League including players Jake Whitesides, Donnie Ross, and Jerry Long and manager Kash Beauchamp.
Whitesides shone for the Lumberjacks, going 2-for-5 with a double and the game's only home run, a three-run blast in the fifth. Jake had 3 RBI and a run scored.
Donnie Ross, the Northeast League designated hitter, was 0-for-3, reaching base once after being hit by a pitch.
Jerry Long struggled in his appearance pitching one inning, surrendering two runs on four hits, but he struck out two batters.
The Lumberjacks head to Brockton for a four game series against the Rox this weekend before returning to the Wink on Monday, July 26 for Cumulus Broadcasting's Elvis Night. The Lumberjacks game against the New Haven Cutters will be Elvis themed with Elvis giveaways and an Elvis impersonation contest. There will even be an Elvis impersonator on hand for a pre-game performance as Bruce Nye the Elvis Guy will entertain fans from 5:45-6:15. Game time is 6:30 PM, with gates opening at 5:30.
