
Whitecaps FC Sign Defender Tristan Blackmon to Contract Extension

VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Thursday that defender Tristan Blackmon has agreed to a contract extension through 2023, with club options for 2024 and 2025.
"Since joining the club in December, Tristan has proven to be great addition and we are pleased to have him commit for the long term to our club and city," said Axel Schuster, Whitecaps FC sporting director.
Blackmon, 25, becomes the fourth 'Caps player to sign a contract extension since January, joining goalkeeper Thomas Hasal, defender Javain Brown, and forward Brian White.

79 appearances with LAFC in all competitions, across four seasons, scored two goals and added seven assists
Helped LAFC lift the 2019 Supporters' Shield
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound centre back has started all three of his appearances with Whitecaps FC since being acquired from Charlotte FC via trade during the 2022 MLS expansion draft.
Prior to being selected by Charlotte FC in the draft, Blackmon spent four seasons with Western Conference side Los Angeles FC, where he made 69 MLS appearances including MLS Cup Playoffs and MLS is Back Knockout Round and helping the club claim the MLS Supporters' Shield in 2019. The native of Las Vegas, Nevada also made five appearances in US Open Cup and five starts in Concacaf Champions League, including three wins over Liga MX opposition, as LAFC made the CCL final.
During his first two seasons with LAFC, Blackmon had two loan stints with USL side Phoenix Rising FC, making 13 appearances.
Before being drafted by Los Angeles FC third overall in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft, the Las Vegas, Nevada native made 71 appearances for the University of the Pacific across four seasons.
