White Sox Infielder Beckham to Rehab With Knights

Fort Mill, SC - Gordon Beckham, who is currently on Chicago's disabled list with a fractured left hand, is expected to continue a Major League Baseball rehab assignment with the Charlotte Knights tonight in the finale of their four-game series with the Toledo Mud Hens at Knights Stadium. Beckham was originally placed on the DL by Chicago back on April 12 (retroactive to April 10).

Gates open at 6:00 p.m. with first pitch set for 7:15 p.m. Tonight's game also features Thirsty Thursday ™ with $2 beers and $1 sodas, thanks to Hickory Tavern.

Beckham has appeared in five games with the Knights so far this season on rehab -- all on the road. The 26-year-old second baseman started his rehab on May 18 in Buffalo and had two hits and three runs scored in that game. He currently has a .318 batting average (7-22) with a double, five runs scored, and two RBIs for the Knights (five games).

The Atlanta, GA native appeared in seven games with the White Sox earlier this season and was hitting .316 (6-19). Last season, Beckham hit .234 with a career-high 16 home runs and 60 RBIs.

Beckham appeared in seven games with the Knights back in 2009 as he made his way up to the Majors. In seven games with the Knights that year, he hit .464 (13-28) with six doubles and three RBIs. He later went on to Chicago where he hit .270 with 14 home runs and 63 RBIs over 103 games. For his efforts, he was named The Sporting News Rookie of the Year.
