White provides offense in 3-0 shutout of Team USA

Matt White scored two goals and Erik Haula added two assists as the Omaha Lancers blanked Team USA's Under-17 squad 3-0 Friday evening in front of 2,717 fans at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. It was Omaha's seventh shutout as a team this season improving the Lancers overall record to 41-12-6 on the year. The Lancers have now won five straight games and have garnered at least one standings point in each of their last 15 games posting a 12-0-3 record during that stretch.
The Lancers grabbed the game's opening goal in the final minute of period one when a tape-to-tape stretch pass from the defensive end off the stick of Erik Haula found the blade of Matt White at center ice who broke in on the left wing before backhanding in his team-leading 33rd goal of the season. Haula earned the only assist on Omaha's league-leading 42nd first goal of the season netted 19:26 into the opening frame.
Omaha doubled its lead late in period two when White got free on the left wing again in banging home his second goal of the game and 34th tally of the year. After his initial opportunity was turned aside by USA's John Gibson, White pounced on the rebound to the right of the goal crease in capping his 20th multi-point game this season. Haula and Alec Rush assisted on the even strength marker netted 18:01 into the middle stanza. The assist was Haula's second of the game securing his 19th multi-point effort of the season while Rush has now registered assists in three straight games.
The Lancers landed the final nail in the coffin early in the third period when a punishing forecheck below the USA goal line led to a wraparound for Troy Power and his 27th goal of the year. Dakota Eveland and Greg Wolfe each assisted on the five-on-five marker extending their individual point streaks to six consecutive games apiece.
Jeff Teglia earned his 30th victory of the season and fifth shutout this year after turning aside all 13 USA shots he faced. Meanwhile, Gibson suffered the loss in goal for the Red, White and Blue despite 31 saves on 34 Omaha shots.
The Lancers are back in action tomorrow evening as they conclude the 2009-2010 regular season with a visit from the Des Moines Buccaneers.
