Brandon, Manitoba - The Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings, in conjunction with Sobkow Technologies, is excited to announce a new innovative online look for the Brandon Wheat Kings (www.wheatkings.com) for the 2008-2009 season.

The club's official web site, recognized in the past for its wealth of information and exciting features, will undergo a facelift and the new look will be unveiled this Friday, September 5th. The site will feature several new elements as well as giving western Manitoba hockey fans the opportunity to share the highlights of their Summer vacations for a chance to win some great prizes.

The Four Seasons Island Resort "How I Spent my Summer Vacation Contest" will invite fans to submit photos from their summer holidays for a chance to win a great prize package that includes a Wheat Kings' replica jersey, a golf package from 4 Seasons Island Resort and Oak Island Golf as well as a Hockey Canada pine cooler, autographed by Wheat Kings' Gold Medal winners Scott Glennie and Brayden Schenn.

The deadline to enter is October 1st, with the grand prize winner to be announced at the Friday, October 3rd game between the Wheat Kings and Red Deer Rebels.

Among the many features will be a completely integrated real time statistics system, searchable photo albums, online stories and countless other features typically found on hockey websites. As well, the new site has been built with a heightened amount of interactivity aimed at making the fan experience as rewarding as possible.

Western Manitoba hockey fans will again have the opportunity to register for the Wheat Kings' Canad Inns Insider (subscription to all scouting reports, stats, press releases and promotion material), participate in the hockey club's Subway Opinion Poll, check out Wheat Kings' TV or listen to CKLQ's play-by-play broadcast with the voice of the Wheat Kings, Bruce Luebke.

As well, fans can order tickets and merchandise, schedule classroom visits as part of the club's popular CIBC Read to Succeed Program and participate in a number of website online contests such as the MTS Connect "Wheat Kings' Trivia" that will give fans the opportunity to win a brand new Bulova watch from McCallum Jewellers.

Another new feature will be regular Player Chats, beginning with Matt Calvert on Monday, September 15th. Fans will have the chance to go online and ask Matt about his rookie season, his thoughts on the upcoming campaign as well as being chosen by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2008 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

On the ice, the Wheat Kings will kick off their 4-game pre-season schedule this weekend with a home and home series with the Regina Pats, beginning Friday night at Westman Communications Group Place.
