Wheat Kings Sign Manitoba AAA Star Turko
December 11, 2023 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
Two members of the Brandon U18 AAA Wheat Kings co-lead the Manitoba AAA ranks in scoring as of this writing. One of them, Jaxon Jacobson, just made his WHL debut with the Brandon Wheat Kings, scoring twice. The other may be soon to follow.
The Wheat Kings announced today they have signed forward Brady Turko to a standard WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. The 2007-born forward has amassed 34 points in just 20 games so far this season.
"Brady has had an exceptional season with the Wheat Kings U18 team," said Wheat Kings head coach and GM Marty Murray. "He's been near the top of the league scoring all year long, and is a consistent threat in every game. His high hockey IQ and his ability to finish are as good as anyone in the province."
Brady Turko signs on the dotted line.
Turko has been showing his ability to both finish plays and set them up all season, with 14 goals and 20 assists on the campaign. This builds on an excellent season he had as a rookie in the U18 ranks, where he put up 43 points in 44 games.
A native of McCreary Manitoba, Turko also played a season for the U15 AAA Wheat Kings, where he posted 81 points in 32 games. The Wheat Kings selected him 97th overall in 2022.
With this signing, Turko is now the third forward from the AAA Wheat Kings to sign with the WHL club. Jacobson and forward Easton Odut are the other two.
