Brandon, MB. - The Brandon Wheat Kings have traded Rylan Bettens to the Portland Winterhawks in exchange for a conditional pick in the 2021 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.
An 18-year old native of Winnipeg, the 6'1" 195 lb. forward is in his third WHL season after being selected by the Wheat Kings in the third round of the 2015 draft.
Bettens scored seven goals and 14 points in 49 games last season and in 114 career WHL games, he has scored eleven goals and 19 points.
Earlier today the Wheat Kings also announced that 18-year old Defenceman Ty Ettinger has been designated for re-assignment.
As a result of Thursday's moves, the Wheat Kings now have twenty-three players on their active roster - two goalkeepers, eight defencemen and 13 forwards.
The Wheat Kings, who are coming off last weekend's home and home series sweep of the Moose Jaw Warriors, will play host to Lethbridge Saturday night in their only game of the weekend.
